A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.” The Bible teaches that giving is not just an act of charity but a reflection of faith and trust in God’s provision. By giving to those in need, supporting our communities, and investing in God’s work, we align ourselves with His heart and experience the joy of being conduits of His blessings. Another key element of financial stewardship is living within our means and planning wisely. Proverbs 21:5 advises, “The plans of the diligent lead to profit as surely as haste leads to poverty.” This encourages believers to avoid impulsive spending and debt, instead fostering habits of saving, budgeting, and preparing for the future. By exercising self-control and prudence, we can avoid financial pitfalls and position ourselves to fulfill God’s purposes without unnecessary burdens. The story of Joseph in Egypt is a profound example of this wisdom, where diligent preparation during years of abundance safeguarded the nation during famine. Ultimately, financial stewardship is about aligning our hearts with God’s priorities. Matthew 6:19-21 reminds us, “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth…but store up for yourselves treasures in heaven…for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” This verse calls us to prioritize eternal values over temporal gains, investing in spiritual growth, relationships, and acts of love that glorify God. By embracing financial stewardship through a biblical lens, we find freedom, purpose, and fulfillment, transforming our resources into tools for eternal impact.
