Healing Depression Through Sacred Wisdom
Depression is a profound struggle that affects millions worldwide, often leaving individuals feeling lost and disconnected. While modern medicine and therapy provide crucial support, the wisdom of ancient scriptures offers timeless guidance for inner healing. Across spiritual traditions, we find messages of hope, resilience, and divine connection that help us navigate life's darkest moments.
1. The Bhagavad Gita: Finding Purpose in Struggle
In the Bhagavad Gita, Arjuna faces despair on the battlefield, doubting his purpose and strength. Lord Krishna advises him to rise above sorrow by fulfilling his duty with devotion, saying, “Be steadfast in yoga, O Arjuna. Perform your duty without attachment to success or failure” (BG 2.47). This teaches that engaging in righteous action, without being consumed by the results, can bring mental peace and resilience against depression.

The Bible offers comforting words for those weighed down by sorrow: “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28).
